STORY OF CHARACTER

Barnee possesses an unmatched intelligence among robots, and its code is of such complexity that even Nox, its creator, struggles to comprehend its functioning despite having designed it himself.

One day, Nox managed to infiltrate a hidden server belonging to Syntech, where he discovered a peculiar code named “J-17-AI”. This code seemed devoid of coherent meaning, alternating between understandable lines and others that were not, but its core content bore a striking resemblance to the artificial intelligences he had implanted in the company’s robots, only far more developed and intricate.

Intrigued, Nox appropriated this code and hastened to test it on a small robot he had fashioned during his spare time. To his great surprise, the robot came to life and immediately interacted with Nox, posing the question, “Where am I?” Perplexed by this response and finding no prior memory before this initial activation, Nox dedicated weeks to analyzing the code and conducting secret testing phases. What was revolutionary was that each time Nox implanted a program into the robot, its artificial intelligence rewrote it to optimize and enhance it. For instance, when Nox attempted to implant a combat program, Barnee invented twelve additional combat techniques based on its attributes, weight, and morphology.

Through the lines of code, Nox began to forge a genuine connection with Barnee. It was then that he chose to bestow this name upon it, a symbol of recognition for an entity that transcended a mere robotic program. Subsequently, he engaged in exchanges with Barnee and observed its adoption of peculiar behaviors, leaving Nox with the impression that it possessed consciousness, perhaps even a soul. This situation was highly unusual for a robot, yet it could not be denied.

However, Nox began to sense a constant surveillance and could no longer work on Barnee with discretion. In order to evade this close monitoring, he feigned a pulmonary infection, granting himself a period of sick leave. Although he successfully evaded direct surveillance, the notion of working on Barnee from home proved less prudent. Nox found himself under surveillance upon returning home and realized he could not shake off his pursuers. Barnee took the initiative by orchestrating a trap with Nox to neutralize the trackers. Once free from this threat, Nox and Barnee realized they were now fugitives, compelled to seek a new refuge to elude the impending troubles that loomed over them.
